Privacy Policy

Last reviewed: 13 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how BaliGenie collects and handles personal information when you use this website. In this policy, BaliGenie is the public-facing name of the website, and references to “we”, “us” or “our” mean the BaliGenie Team responsible for operating the website and responding to privacy requests. This wording does not state that BaliGenie or the BaliGenie Team is a separately incorporated entity. If you have a privacy question or request, please use our Contact page.

Information you may provide to us

When you contact us, use a contact form, communicate with a listing owner, or use a feature that asks for information, we may receive the information you choose to submit. Depending on the feature, this can include your name, email address, telephone number, message, enquiry details and other information you enter into the form.

BaliGenie also includes directory and provider features. If account, listing or provider functions are made available to you and you use them, we may process account, profile, listing, business, booking or communication information needed to provide that feature. We do not ask you to submit information that is unnecessary for the feature you are using.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the website and its hosting environment may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, timestamps and server or security logs. WordPress, WooCommerce or login-related functionality may also use cookies or similar browser storage that is necessary for sessions, authentication, preferences or other requested website functions.

At the time this policy was last reviewed, BaliGenie did not have an enabled payment gateway or an analytics/tracking plugin detected by our launch configuration audit. If we later introduce analytics, advertising, payment processing, public registration or other material data-processing features, we will review this policy and any consent controls before relying on those features.

Contact forms and email

Contact forms are used so that you can send enquiries to BaliGenie or, where a feature provides it, to a relevant listing or service contact. Form submissions may be delivered by email and handled by the people responsible for responding to the enquiry. We may retain correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse or meet applicable legal obligations.

Listings, providers and user-generated information

Directory listings may contain information supplied by providers or gathered and maintained through the platform workflow. Information intended to appear publicly in a listing may be visible to website visitors. Administrative, verification, moderation and communication records are used only as reasonably necessary to operate, review and protect the directory and to deal with corrections, complaints or misuse.

Commerce and payments

WooCommerce functionality is installed on the website, but no payment gateway was enabled when this policy was last reviewed. If payment processing is enabled in the future, the checkout may collect the information needed to complete the transaction and the relevant payment provider may process payment-related information under its own terms and privacy practices. We will update this policy before materially relying on such processing.

Cookies and similar technologies

Essential cookies or browser storage may be used for functions such as login, security, sessions and requested site features. We do not describe a cookie as analytics or advertising technology unless that use is actually enabled. If non-essential tracking or similar technology is introduced, we will review whether consent or additional notice is required before using it.

How we use information

We use personal information to provide and operate requested website features, answer enquiries, manage listings and provider interactions, maintain site security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, keep appropriate records, improve the service and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not use personal information for a purpose that is incompatible with the reason it was collected without an appropriate basis.

When information may be shared

Information may be processed by service providers that help us host, secure, maintain or communicate through the website, and by other recipients when this is necessary to provide a feature you request. We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not describe a processor or payment provider as active unless that service is actually in use.

How long information is kept

Retention depends on the type of information and why it was collected. We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the relevant operational, security, recordkeeping, dispute-resolution or legal purpose. Different systems and service providers may have different retention periods. Where applicable law requires longer retention or permits earlier deletion, those requirements are taken into account.

Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on the law that applies to you and the circumstances, you may have rights relating to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability or withdrawal of consent. WordPress also provides administrative tools that can assist with personal-data export and erasure requests for supported data. To make a request, use our Contact page. We may need information to verify the request before acting on it, and some information may need to be retained where permitted or required by law.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect the website and the information processed through it. No website, transmission method or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we do not make an absolute security guarantee.

International processing

The website, hosting infrastructure or service providers may process information in countries different from the country where you are located. Where required, appropriate safeguards or other lawful mechanisms should be used for cross-border processing.

Third-party services and links

Some website functions may rely on third-party infrastructure or services. A third party that receives information directly from you or processes it for its own purposes may have its own privacy terms. BaliGenie is not responsible for the privacy practices of a separate third-party website that you choose to visit.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when website features, service providers, legal requirements or our data-handling practices change. The review date at the top of this page will be updated when we make a material revision.
