Affiliate Disclosure

BaliGenie does not currently place affiliate links in its editorial body content and does not currently receive affiliate commission from those editorial links. The project is not taking payments or selling paid listing packages at this stage. This disclosure explains the current position and the standard that would apply if commercial relationships are introduced later.

How affiliate links work

An affiliate arrangement normally means a publisher can receive compensation when a reader follows a tracked link and completes an eligible action. BaliGenie’s current editorial policy prohibits outbound affiliate links inside body copy, so that model is not being used in the editorial pages prepared for launch.

If BaliGenie changes that policy in the future, the disclosure should be updated before affiliate links are introduced. The fact that affiliate marketing is common in travel publishing is not a reason to describe a relationship that does not exist.

Editorial independence

Editorial recommendations should be based on the reader’s decision, not on which provider produces the highest commission. If BaliGenie later earns money from a provider, booking relationship, advertisement or promoted placement, that commercial relationship should remain separate from the core editorial conclusion.

Commercial participation should not allow a provider to buy a favourable destination guide, remove a legitimate comparison or claim a credential it does not have. The Editorial Policy explains that separation.

Compensation disclosure

There are currently no paid listing products configured on BaliGenie and no affiliate links in the editorial content produced for the site. If paid placements, sponsorships, referral fees or affiliate relationships are introduced, BaliGenie should label the relevant commercial feature and update this page to explain how compensation works.

A future listing fee would not automatically make the listing an editorial recommendation. A provider record and an editorial article have different roles on the platform.
